Lunch at Bill’s Restaurant

As if we don't have enough amazing dining options in Glasgow, there is new kid in town. Everyone say 'hi' to Bill.

Glasgow is the newest addition to the Bill's Restaurant family and their first venture North of the Border. I'd heard good things about the London restaurant and was keen to try it out for myself. So, off I toddled with my mum on its opening day last week to see what all the fuss was about.

The West Nile Street venue is the perfect spot for a quick bite to eat whilst shopping in the City Centre. We were shown to a seat by the window of the bright and airy restaurant and given a couple of menu's to pour over, including the lunch time special menu and the main menu.

After much deliberation, I decided to go for the prawn and crab cakes (£5.85) and my mum went for the red onion tart (£5.50). The prawn and crab cakes were delicious and chunky and were served with a tangy mango salad. My mum also had no complaints about her starter so both plates were duly cleared.

In an attempt at being healthy, I decided to go for a Naked Burger (£9.95). Not quite as scandalous as it sounds, the naked burger is served sans bread bun and instead, with a side salad and some delicious tzatziki. My mum opted for the chicken skewers, served with cous cous and piadina bread (£9.95). The portions were huge and, at this point, we realised we could really have done without the starters. However, we ploughed on and also made a valiant attempt at the sides we had ordered too, sweet potato fries (£3.55) and crumbed halloumi (£4.50). Anything involving sweet potato and halloumi (served with a delicious chilli mayo) is already a winner in my book and neither left me disappointed. In fact, they were both all kinds of awesome and I'll definitely be ordering both again upon my return.

All in all, we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals so I'd definitely go back again. It has a laidback, relaxed vibe so it's perfect for a lunch date with the girls after shopping or a casual dinner with a bigger group of friends but it probably wouldn't be somewhere I would go for a special birthday dinner or celebration.

It's open from 8am and the breakfast menu looks amazing. I'm quite partial to a breakfast meeting so I'll definitley be back soon to try the pancakes.
